Social Media Stereotypes

Being users of the internet we can all say that we have jumped on the social media bandwagon. Whether it was using Facebook or Twitter, we have all jumped from one social media site to the other. There are many stereotypes associated with the internet, and one of them being that social media sites are just trends that come and go. We all know that in a year or two there will be another site that will catch our attention. For example, a couple of years ago Facebook was the most popular site, but now the tables have turned and Twitter has taken it's place. In a year or two there will be another and then another, etc.. Personally, I can say that I have been that guy that likes keeping up with most recent site, and I know that I don't stand alone when I say that if a newer one pops up that we will be ready to hop on the bandwagon.

  1. Juan you bring up such a good point because I am the same way as you how I like going to the newest site and participating in it. Twitter is now and Facebook is in the back seat in my opinion, great post.

  2. I believe what you are saying is correct. It is to no surprise that we, as you a nation, like to follow who or whatever is popular good or bad. For example, in sports we had the Lebron James bandwagon, Bad. In 2014 we had the Ice Bucket Challenge for a Good cause. These are just a few of the recent events but the trends have risen and fallen and new ones will always take their place.

  4. I agree with you 100%, this is a great point & post. Everyone is interested in a new site, I know for me when Instagram became popular, you know I was all about that! haha I have not jumped on the bandwagon for Twitter, but not every site is for everyone!

  5. I agree with you on following the latest bandwagon. However, if I jump on board and find that the newest site isn't all that it's made up to be, I definitely wouldn't stick around. Personally, Facebook holds no actual social value to me. I don't log on Facebook to stay caught up with current events or political candidates. I only have Facebook to keep in touch with relatives. Great post, anyhow!

  6. Well understood, I completely agree with your post. Social Media is something that is continuing to evolve and sooner or later things will be replaced because this bandwagon is a trend that is constantly moving. That's just how much of a tie these businesses have on their consumers to make us jump from one to another.
